Are you ready to embark on a celestial journey through the Django universe? We’re elated to open the doors for Djangonaut Space Session 6 applications! As part of our ongoing mission to nurture growth and expertise within the Django community, this session offers participants an extraordinary opportunity to advance their skills and deepen their involvement in the Django ecosystem. Whether you’re eager to sharpen your technical expertise or aspire to step into a leadership role, this program is carefully curated to help you reach new heights of code, collaboration, and community.
Something New Is On The Horizon
Session 6 will include a BeeWare documentation team. BeeWare is project that allows its users to write their apps in Python and release it on multiple platforms. This marks the first time Djangonaut Space has included a project outside of the Django ecosystem. However, that doesn't mean there aren't ties between our communities. Both are Python projects and there's plenty of cross-over in contributors. This is an exciting development that we hope to see more of in the future. Thank you to Kattni and Russell Keith-Magee for making this happen.
Chart Your Path: Among The Djangonauts
Djangonaut Space is a free, 8-week group mentoring program where individuals have the opportunity to delve into the core Django library, explore third-party packages, and contribute to open source projects in a collaborative environment alongside fellow explorers. As a Djangonaut, you'll be paired with a seasoned Navigator and Captain, the Django experts who will be your guiding light through the intricacies of the framework. This personalized mentorship will equip you with the knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the Django community in the future.
Mission Control: Mark The Dates
Over eight weeks, Djangonaut Space will offer a blend of semi-structured and self-paced learning, enabling participants to make meaningful contributions to Django. The program timeline is designed as below:
Application Opening Date: Jan 18, 2026 AOE

Collaborative Cosmos: Your Django Project Awaits
This session we will be having Django core teams, an Accessibility team, a Django Simple Deploy team, and a BeeWare team. We understand that some folks only want to work on Django core and that's perfectly fine.
Please take some time to explore these projects and discover which one aligns the best with your passion.
We recommend that you do a little bit of reading on each of them to see if it'd be something you're interested in working on.
🚀 A team focused on Accessibility for both Django Core and third-party packages
🚀 BeeWare documentation (this is outside of the Django community, but is still Python!)
This session we expanding the Djangonaut Space program to libraries that are outside the Django ecosystem, but still within the Python ecosystem. There is significant overlap between the Django community and the BeeWare community. This is an exciting development for Python and we hope others are just as excited about this.
